As I entered a State Park, I was informed by a ranger that an Eastern Screeching Owl was just released back into the wild after a lengthy recovery from being shot by a hunter. He was able to tell me where the owl was last seen, and I was able to follow it around for hours as it reacclimatized itself to being free. I was lucky to get this shot later in the evening as the sun began to get low in the sky, and I could expose for a very brilliant blue peeking in through some trees. The orange tones in the owl’s feathers pops in contrast to that blue in the sky.
