To create the perfect photograph, you must be willing to work. I first saw this basilisk as it climbed into a tree. The background from where I was located, however, was not good. There was another nature enthusiast with a pair of binoculars directly behind the lizard. Knowing I would only have a few seconds before this juvenile basilisk scurried up into the tree's canopy, I ran about 20 yards to my left. I held the camera up to my eye and kept moving until I saw a background that would be most pleasing.
